Therapeutic Massage

The benefits of therapeutic massage can be experienced in a single session. Massage or ‘somatic manual therapy’ is recommended as often as possible and 1x a month as a minimum for general health and wellness. For clients looking to address specific issues, massage therapy is encouraged at an heightened frequency of 1 x / week for 6 - 12 weeks to  support progress.


Effects of regular therapeutic massage are cumulative. Lifestyle advantages include deep relaxation and stress reduction, support immune function, rehabilitation, support through difficult times, optimal physical and athletic performance, mental clarity, emotional stability, improved posture / body mechanics, increased range of motion, a relationship with your body that is informed by a deeper sense of awareness and well being.


Massage Modalities & Techniques

General relaxation, swedish, deep tissue, sports massage, myo-fascial release, neuromuscular re-patterning / fascial integration, structural integration techniques, active release & trigger point techniques, assisted stretching / range of motion, approaches from restorative yoga, breath work, Shiatsu, energy work / Reiki are incorporated.  


Reiki, (or touch-delivered electromagnetic therapy) is an approach to energy therapy passed on by Mikao Usui (1865 - 1926) of Japan. Reiki has become popular in modern hospitals and many health professionals have been trained to use Reiki to aid patients experiencing pain and to enhance their recovery process. Energy therapy may be integrated with restorative yoga and massage therapy.


Non-Toxic Massage

During massage therapy sessions, only natural organic oil is used (grape seed, jojoba, olive oil). Scented oil (lavender, geranium, etc.) is used at times. Skin care products containing petroleum byproducts, propylene glycol, isopropyl alcohol or other toxic substances are not used. Products that have been tested on animals are not used.


Sound & Music

A range of musical genres are available for your listening in massage therapy sessions. Be it music for relaxation, sounds from nature, sacred sounds of various traditions, solo instrumental works, classical, jazz, funk, fusion, ambient, electronica, or rock, A collection of sound / music is available to suit a diversity of preferences. Sometimes its good to rock out, coast with rhythmic contour, or resonate in the meditative vibration of a drone. Silence is also an option.
